I only really love the heavy stuff on CW :x But that’s p typical for me, my favorite MCR is HEAVY AS IT GETS MCR

See, the stuff that I don’t get on CW is everything that isn’t the heavy stuff. Like every time he tried to do ~boundary pushing~ stuff it just… is weird to me?? idk just when it comes to boundary pushing they did it better on DD and it wasn’t working on CW. But all the heavy stuff is AWESOME.

YES THIS. Im still not entirely sure if homeschooling was the best option for me. I mean, school wouldve been hell because of my dyslexia, but homeschooling yeah, homeschooling really hasnt been super great for me either.

I’m sorry, sweetheart! Thank you for sharing. :)

I’ve been lucky be homeschooled by one of the most intelligent people I know (my mother). And almost all of my fellow homeschoolers have also been well-educated, having profited by learning “off the books”. But, as you said, this is not for everyone.

when it works well, I’ve found it to be one of the best things in the world. When it’s not though, things go really, really wrong.

homeschooling is illegal in Germany among other places. thoughts?

I mean heck, even here in the US the laws for homeschooling differ hugely from state to state. From complete laissez-faire, including my home state of Missouri, to states like California that, last I heard, where looking at requiring a parent to have a teaching certificate in order to homeschool.

While I think homeschooling is a valid choice, there is honestly just so much abuse of the system that I understand why some places have made it illegal. I don’t agree, but I understand.

I mean like I talked about, to me the only valid reason to homeschool is to offer a child an opportunity to grow up as a curious intellectual. The US public school system just IS NOT focused on that as an institution at all, and with things like zoning, lots of citizens have no chance of finding a BETTER public school for their children. The next option would be a private education, but with the way the education system works in the US, that is just completely unfeasible for most of the working and lower classes. It’s even a stretch for upper-middle income families depending on their situations. And so in the US, if a parent is in a position to be able to give their child a better education than being taught to a test or bankruptcy, I think it’s ESSENTIAL that that option exist.

But that’s also not realistic on ANY sort of larger scale because it’s getting nigh impossible for families to live on only one income. I think that, above all, is the privilege so few homeschoolers acknowledge. Homeschooling seriously won’t work for everyone.

I’d be happiest for US society if the educational system was reformed in such a way so that the money public schools get for teaching a student was attached to the student rather than the school, forcing schools to compete for students. A little capitalism in the educational system would do it a lot of good. (And if you’re curious about that I’d highly recommend the ABC documentary “Stupid in America” because it’s awesome.)

So, while I’m not wholly comfortable with homeschooling being illegal in some countries, I do recognize that it’s an institution that is often abused and used FOR abuse (my mom and a few other homeschool moms in my area were involved with helping Child Protective Services root out parents who were “homeschooling” there kids in order to keep them at home to abuse them). It doesn’t take a lot for homeschooling to go wrong. And whenever a country has its shit together when it comes to their educational system, homeschooling is really pretty fucking obsolete.
